How to Use Our Property Exterior Inspection Application
If your Claim professional believes your claim is a good candidate for the Exterior Inspection application, they’ll text or email you a link to download the app.
Once you’ve installed the app, register using the same email address the invitation was sent to and choose a password. The app may ask for permission to use your camera and location. Please note, it will not work without these permissions.
The app will lead you through the following steps:
1. Take photos of the damage.
If there’s visible damage to the outside of your home (such as broken siding), please take these photos first.
2. Take photos of your home.
To create an accurate representation of your home, you’ll need to take at least eight photos of the exterior. These should include:
- At least one photo of each face of your home
- At least one photo of each corner of your home
If additional images are required, the application will prompt you. For example, this may occur if there are trees or other buildings obstructing the photograph. There’s no harm in taking a few extra photos if you’d like to highlight something.
Note: All photos should be taken from ground level. You should not use a ladder, get onto your roof or put yourself at risk to capture the images.
3. Submit your photos.
When you’re done capturing images, tap the “next” button to send your photos. The app will then send the photos to your Claim professional.
Top tips for taking your photographs
Try to photograph the entire side of your home (from left to right and from top to bottom).
On corner shots, try to capture both faces in your shot.
Try taking a landscape shot - it might make it easier.
