What GPA is required for a Good Student Discount?
Travelers offers student discounts for car insurance when a driver on your policy is enrolled in school full time, including home-schooled students. Students must maintain a B average (a 3.0 GPA) or its equivalent or be in the upper 20% of their class scholastically. Age restrictions and other exceptions may apply.
To verify your student’s eligibility, you’ll be asked to provide documentation such as:
-
Their latest report card
-
An honor roll certificate or newspaper clipping of honor roll status
-
A home-school certification signed by a parent and co-signed by a home-school certifying body, such as the state’s department of education, if applicable
-
A printout from parent access account: preprinted documentation including the student’s name
Can good grades help me get a discount?
Yes. When a student on your policy gets and maintains the required grades, you can qualify for a discount on your auto insurance.
College students away at school discount
If a student on your policy is attending and residing at a school more than 100 miles away from home, you may qualify for a discount on your car insurance. Age and vehicle restrictions may apply, so check with your independent agent or Travelers representative for details.
Insurance discount with driver training
To encourage young drivers to sharpen their skills with driver training, we offer a discount if they successfully complete an approved driver education course. Age restrictions may apply.
A Travelers representative or independent agent can help you determine your eligible auto insurance discounts. Find a Travelers representative or local independent agent near you to learn more about available discounts.
