Disrupting Distraction
February 13, 2019 | Indianapolis, IN
More than 37,000 people died on U.S. roads in 2017 — a staggering number. Policymakers, law enforcement and victims' families point to distracted driving as an important contributing factor. Despite efforts to curb distracted driving, it remains a pressing issue. With 94 percent of crashes involving human error, can brain science and psychology provide insights to dramatically reduce distraction-related roadway fatalities and injuries? Can technology play a role in solving the problem it helped to create? On Wednesday, February 13, we explored and discussed the distracted brain and the most promising approaches to combat distracted driving.
Presented by the Travelers Institute, the Butler University Lacy School of Business, Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana, the Insurance Institute of Indiana, the National Safety Council, the Road to Zero Coalition, and Gamma Iota Sigma.
