Reducing Distracted Driving: A Social and Business Imperative
Tuesday, April 3, 2018 | Starkville, Mississippi
The Travelers Institute presented this program at Mississippi State University's Insurance Day.
More than 37,000 Americans died on U.S. roads in 2016* - a staggering number. Policymakers, law enforcement and victims' families point to distracted driving as an important contributing factor. But so far, efforts to curb distracted driving have fallen woefully short. With 94 percent of crashes involving human error, can brain science and psychology provide insights to dramatically reduce distraction-related roadway fatalities and injuries? Can technology play a role in solving the problem it helped to create? What role do employers play in this conversation? This interactive discussion focused on the most promising approaches to combat distracted driving.
