Travelers Women in Tech Win Digital Insurance Awards

Tracey Cournoyer winning the Women in Leadership (WIL) award and Kendra Werkheiser winning WIL NEXT award.

Travelers took home two prestigious Digital Insurance awards this year, with Tracey Cournoyer winning the Women in Leadership (WIL) award that recognizes the most tech-savvy pioneers and forward-thinking visionaries in the industry, and Kendra Werkheiser winning WIL NEXT, honoring rising insurance leaders who have shown exceptional expertise in leading major digital projects.

Both women play significant roles accelerating Travelers’ digital transformation and establishing a culture of continual innovation, while helping to ensure a strong future for women in technology.

In Cournoyer’s first year as Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Bond & Specialty Insurance, she accelerated the business’s digital-first journey, helped integrate Corvus Insurance into Travelers, kickstarted a major digital transformation initiative called Strategic Platform Program, and took on the additional role of Chief Operations Officer. Cournoyer helps develop the next generation of technology professionals as a leadership advisor for EmpowHER+, a professional development group for women at Travelers, and she mentors girls in local schools who are interested in STEM careers.

Werkheiser, Assistant Vice President of Software Engineering for Business Insurance, won the Women in Insurance Leadership NEXT award, for her significant contribution to an engineering design that will serve as a blueprint for a new digital platform across the company. She is also establishing a mentorship program within her line of business.

Cournoyer is Travelers’ first WIL nominee and winner. Werkheiser follows in the footsteps of WIL NEXT winners Jadwin Jenkins (2023), Kristin Shumway (2022) and Heather Cavallaro (2019). Mojgan Lefebvre earned the Women in Insurance Leadership award in 2017, before joining Travelers.
