Here are a few ineligibles to keep in mind for this industry:
- Service or repair work on non-private passenger vehicles (let me know if you have a light commercial vehicle so I can review for eligibility) and those used for racing
- Roadside assistance (i.e. AAA style service)
- Towing for others (Travelers can write towing to the repair clients shop only)
- Auto restoration or fabrication (i.e. rebuilding junk or antique vehicles)
- Sale, repair or bulk storage of used tires, or bulk storage of new tires
- Rent, lease or loan vehicles to others
- Home-based or mobile businesses
Ineligible operations:
- Firearm/ammunition manufacturing
- Primary operations involving welding, casting, soldering, brazing, or finishing treatments (electroplating, enameling, heat treating, enameling, powder coating)
- Working with heavy metals or toxic chemicals
- Operations involving molten metals, welding ovens, or furnaces.
- Salvaging, recycling or reclaiming operations
- Ball bearing manufacturing
- Fiberglass product manufacturing
Controls to look for:
- Personal protective equipment provided to employees (goggles, hearing protection, gloves, respirators, slip resistant shoes, hard hats, etc.)
- Appropriate material handling and assisted lifting equipment provided
- Proper training for specialized equipment or machinery
- Machine guarding in place
- Proper ventilation to remove dust from air
- Regular inspection and maintenance of equipment
- Hand and eye washing stations
- Regular housekeeping of work areas and proper clearance in walkways
